Who are the bigger brands of media streamers - excluding HTPC?

Medeter , Xtreamer , Boxee , DVico (TViX) , MViX (does it still exist?) , AC Ryan , WD Live etc?

Apple TV only does 720p.

I have WDTV Live devices dotted around the house feeding off a Mezzzmo server.

I am now looking into Plex clients. I have the Plex server setup and using Plex clients on my Galaxy Note and PCs. Plex is brilliant.
So fat I have discovered the Samsung BD5500 and up supports the Plex client so picking one up this week to fiddle with.
2011 and newer LG TVs also use Plex.

I'll tell you what I'm thinking of ...

A central place to buy all things media related - accessories, controls, media centres etc.

I know when I get interested in a media player, it takes me 10 different sites before I look at them all - and I generally end of missing one :/

Mvix was done by the Xtreamer guys ... iirc.

Yeah, Unicorm Information Systems now build the Xtreamer's ..

Id recommend that you build a dedicated HTPC and then install your choice of media client software such as plex, xbmc, etc.

I have just set up and HTPC for my folks consisting of an HP Microserver (R1299.00 at DigitalPlanet) and an MSI n520gt (+-R500.00) and installed OpenELEC (XBMC). Flawless 1080p bliss... It will afford you the choice of OS/HTPC Frontend software, future-proof your upgrade path and allow you add up to 4 3.5' drives to expand capacity as required.

If you haven't heard of OpenELEC yet then do yourself a favour and get reading.

You have learned well Obi-Wan :p

For parents or women, I would reccomend you put on the ReFocus skin - its uber sexy and easy to use.
