I would like to know how the parties differ in terms of their policies and manifesto's regarding the issues of the day. Like many other people, I don't have time to read all the policy / manifesto documents of each party, nevermind putting them side by side and comparing them to each other.
I think the media should be focusing on the issues rather than the skinner.
Compare this CNN site from the American elections:
http://edition.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/issues/
And other USA sites such as
http://www.npr.org/templates/topics/topic.php?topicId=1111
to these South African sites:
http://elections.mg.co.za/
http://www.saelections.co.za/
http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?set_id=1&click_id=3086
The South African sites are all about who said what about who and very little about the issues. Even when issues are spoken about very little comparison with other parties is done. It's a mess.
I really feel the media is letting us down here...
