Hey guys, I got a new big screen tv in my room and i want to use it for watching movies. I have many movies on my desktop pc and i don't know if i'm going to find that the media player i get won't read all my movie formats compared to the laptop that uses vlc which is good. i have a budget of around R1,500 for either a laptop or media player. which is best?

Does the TV have wireless?

If it's a Samsung you can more than likely install the Plex App on it and stream directly.

Get a media player less hassle and probably cheaper. You wont get a decent laptopb for 1.5k rather buy a decent media player. The media player will play 99% of your videos

If it wasnt the OS drive on your PC, I would have suggested Blu-Ray player + External enclosure.

Does the TV have a USB port? Otherwise Esquire have some nice media players. If on a tight budget you can get a media player that takes external HDDs and use a USB stick in the meantime. A 32Gb USB stick is about R 240,00
