Media player with Google TV

I need to upgrade a couple of my media players and are thinking of a media player that comes with Google Tv instead of Android Tv.

However it is not easy to see which devices support google tv when I try to google media boxes.

I currently have a few Mi Box S's and they work great, but they run Android Tv.

Does anyone have any suggestions in the Google Tv Media Player range?

Right now I am tending to give the Google Chromecast with Google TV a go and see how it goes.

Is Google TV not an app, as opposed to an OS?

Why..??

Google TV is a discontinued OS, for something like 5 or 6 years now.. any media player you are going to find that happens to run it, is going to suck in terms of hardware resources..

Perhaps there are unofficial ports for it.. but then, you could run into issues with certification for Netflix etc and support for other streaming apps that just doesn't work on it..

Google have renamed Google Play Movies & TV to Google TV

Current Google TV is a skin that runs on Android TV - last I heard it was on very few devices Google Chromecast with Google TV, new Sony TV's, and maybe, TCL.
 
I did bite the bullet and get a Chromecast 4. It is very snappy and overall I am very impressed with it. It seems the search gets better and better with every new release.

The only irritating thing about it is the remote in my Google Home app on my phone does not always want to connect to it.

That said, after the last update on my MI box S it also works very nicely with Google Home.
 
looking for media player that can do dts-hd ma at least. Can anyone recommend something?
