Hi everyone! I'm looking for a solution for a family member. I've got a Plex server mostly with high quality mkv files. I'm looking to share it over the network to another TV. The house is wired with gigabit Ethernet. I'm looking at a Roku 3, but is there a better or cheaper solution? I'm also looking at a mini Android PC or new Chromecast. Something that uses the Plex app would be idea. I've also got R1000 worth of eBucks. TIA

Id go Roku but that's just me.
Apple TV 4 works too.
Not s fan of the android boxes and I've tried a few

I'd definitely go Roku 3 over an Android box if you want simplicity and the least amount of complications. I wouldn't go Chromecast based on the media type you say you are using, while the new CC is much improved it still relies on wifi only unless you purchase an extra ethernet adapter.

Still haven't been able to find a Roku 3 :/ Any other suggestions?

I ordered & received my Raspberry Pi with Kodi and SD card pre installed with OpenElec.

Do I need to flash the RasPlex software to a seperate SD card or can I use the SD card with Kodi pre installed?

Kodi/OpenElec is fine from playback, either from USB HDD or network shares.
RasPlex is a standalone version (a mixture of Kodi and Plex) and yes it needs to be installed on a different SD card.
RasPlex will require Plex Media Server to be installed on PC though to send media to the player over the network.
Alternatively if you want to use Plex Media Server with Kodi then there is a Plugin for Kodi called PlexBMC.

I do have a Plex Media Server streaming to a Samsung Blu-ray player but I'm having issues with Cinavia. Bought the Pi to get rid of this issue. Will get an additional SD card for Rasplex.
