Do you get a media player that also has a tv card? I'm looking for something that I can connect directly to a monitor that would allow me to watch tv as well as movies and series from a hdd.

XBOX one, but the TV part is not working yet.
I don't know, I don't do consoles.

Best to wait for some other forum member.

I'm not looking for something that does streaming. I want to be able to connect an aerial and get reception for the normal tv channels.

The XBOX is a set top box as well where you can plug your aerial and dish into the console.
I am not too clued up consoles so....

I don't know of any other options.

Thanks for the info. I don't want to spend money on an xbox though. Hopefully there's something else out there that does the same thing.

i know of only one device that should work.. the HDHomeRun PRIME..

be warned, it has no video outputs and streams across ethernet to your pc.. and it is pricey.. http://www.amazon.com/SiliconDust-HDHomeRun-Compatible-Streaming-HDHR3-CC/dp/B004HKIB6E

cheaper alternative is a pci-e tv card that slots into your motherboard to allow you to connect your aerial.. there also usb ones available and you can get one for anywhere from 400 bucks +.. i suggest looking at the compro and Hauppauge WinTV range of tvt tuners..
