I got a problem where, no matter what I play be it video or mp3, my media player will "hangs". Basically randomly throughout a song or movie, it will temporarily freeze. It isn't just one of my media players it is all of them from what I have seen. Also it looks like my CPU usage shoot up to 40% from 2-3%.

Anyone have a similar experience and knows how to fix it?

Is your system overclocked, either graphics or CPU?

Shame, what did it do to deserve the death penalty? :p

haha lol MickeyD, but not very helpful :(

Thx teraside for the advice, but doesnt look like it has fixed it. It does however look like it might have helped a bit.

Donno if this is relevant at all, but the quality on my windows media player is rubbish.

Make sure you are using the latest drivers from AMD for your card.

If you have Windows 7, as I assumed, download this codec pack:
http://www.windows7codecs.com/ (that's the one I use solely and it works brilliantly).

The problem is though that even mp3's stutter or pause when you play it. Maybe you should update your Audio drivers as well?
