So I got my hands on a D link DSL G225. I am thinking of doing a media server of sorts. I already own a Huawei B618 which works fine with rain sim card. I have always wanted a wireless network all round the house. Right now there are no issues and the B618 serves media to all devices in the house thanks to kodi and I don't need to have a PC running constantly and act as a plex or emby server.
Now i'm in possession of this router and wondering if there is anything I can do with it to enhance the kind of setup I already have without complicating things. I had thought of using the modem as another wifi point in the house but is it possible or logical to connect a hard drive to it and use that modem (D link modem) when one wants to connect to the media and leave the B618 router just for internet usage since it can take a sim card.
Still a noob to all these and open to any ideas on what I can do with what I have or if its better i just stick to what is already working fine.
