Has anyone reviewed these lately? I need to change my mum's to just a hospital plan cos Oxygen is full of BS, changing schemes etc. I think I am paying like R1500 per month. I need to get it down to like R600 pm.

I told medishield to go F themselves today. Didnt help me at all. Basterds@!#$ So getting to your point.

Dude, all of them are crooked and corrupt. They should be called only medical schemes because they insult the word 'aid'.

hmmm not sure..my dad put us on oxygen and then on discovery again because of the BS.

Nice!

I'm on Self Med, R2800pm for myself, the wife and 2 kiddies. Just a hospital plan, no day to day stuff. Personally I think 2800 is way to much, would like some opinions too. Their service is ok, never had any problems with that but R2800pm...

if you are just after a hospital plan, i would suggest discovery or maybe fedhealth...their in-hospital seems pretty good, if you with something more comprehensive, you might want other examples

ok wiz. i am on Discovery-hate them! will check out their plan though

/facepalm
what are the odds I work for Mediclinic?

/slightly on topic...

Rumour has it that we will not be able to claim our medical aid contributions as a Tax deduction from next year. All linked to the proposed NHI...

i also read something like that...and then they want to introduce a 3-5% tax on our salaries that will go to this nhi

I am on a Profmed medical aid thing but it isn't quite a hospital plan that pays out a fixed amount in the event of hospitalisation. It is more like a medical aid without all the medication and outpatients benefits. I haven't had an accident yet so I can't account for how well they do on claims and I don't really buy any medication or visit doctors or anything... they're great at taking my money every month though if that helps :p

Have a look at the Discovery KeyCare Plus option (hospital plan with some day 2 day benefits like unlimited GP visits etc) or the Fedhealth Maxima Core (hospital plan). The KeyCare plan is very affordable and sounds ideal for your requirements.

Discovery KeyCare is good if you're on a low income. I'm on it at the moment. If you earn over something like R 8 000, then it's better to take the Coastal Saver plan. I'm switching over end of this year.

I work directly of one of the top medical aids. I have a hospital plan with a little bit of savings (R5292) for R2940. Price is for 2011. if you are interested, send me your contact details to [email protected] and I will give you a call.
