Hi,

I need a cost/benefit analysis that covers:

  1. Bonitas
  2. Prosano
  3. Bestmed
  4. Medihelp

I prefer to have a spreadsheet in front of me instead of someone explaining it.

Am sure Bonitas will suffice to most of your needs. They are 2nd largest open scheme in the market in SA. Varied options as well. Check out their website.

I am on all of em getting options, benefits etc.

It just seems that one gets screwed to various degrees with all medical aids, because each one has its own set of fine print, rules, exceptions, exclusions, etc.

JMO ...

Its a scam in a sense. If you are fit and healthy you subsidise the old and sick. When you realy need medical assistance, then the exclusions kick in. One ends up being short-changed and the difference out of one's own pocket.

you need a broker

It should be your health brokers job to do this, but you really need to ask more nicely.

I would like to know why you not considering Discovery or Momentum? I can only assume you have had a bad experience with a "bigger" scheme.

If you are looking for a "smaller" scheme in the hope that they will look after you better, i would recommend you check out Resolution Health and Fedhealth, based on my experience. Feel free to browse our website and contact us if you need help signing up.

p.s. You don't pay any more to have a broker, and you get to phone a real person when you have a problem!

p.s.s Even if you sign up with a medical scheme "directly" you are actually appointing a call centre agent as your broker.

Just sucks at the moment that you almost have to be apart of one of the big schemes... all the small ones are going under. Discovery is the only one that made a profit last year.

I'm finding that if you want to have gym membership then you basically have to have vitality (otherwise its R400 pm!)

All these other "Benefits" like cheap healthy food at PnP and the movie club should just be available separately to my medical aid.
