I want to cancel my medical aid (Spectramed - Hospital), and move to another (Resolution - Fundamental).

Spectramed says i have to send them a termination letter with 3 months notice

Resolution has the same clause in the contract

Why???

Yea kok i have the exact same problem and thought, you need to cancel and in 3 months join resolution. It's total BS but it is in the contract.

Spectramed upped their rates by 500 bucks without warning or notice. Flippin dodgy company if you ask me.

Thanks Killa, i know about the rates, damn...

I know it is in the contract, but i still find it unfair, medical aid is just another form of insurance, why should they lock me in?

I can go to my bank and cancel the stop order, but i'm going to do the right thing and give them a 3 months notice.

they also told me about the 3 month notice period when i cancelled with them 3yrs ago, reason for the cancellation period, according to them, was to make sure that there was no outstanding payments or late claims coming through...

...i let my new med aid contact them and tell them that i have signed up them (as you are not allowed to have 2 med aids) and got my notice period down to 2 months

iirc it wasn't in their contract back then ,it just stated something like an agreeable notice period

but if its now in there, there is not much you can do
