Need some advice.
I am on a hospital plan with Liberty Health, Platinum Focus.
They are pretty useless. They dont offer much to the client.

I now want to sign up with Momentum health.
It is a bit more in cost but you get a slight saving.

Any advice?
Which is a better scheme?
Is the momentum route a better option in terms of what they pay?

Thanks guys

Hospital plans in general don't offer much.

I am on discovery only because spectramed are useless and refused to remove my ex within the 1 month so i told em to go get fked basically but they did offer dental, hostipal and paid for medicine and doctors. Very good hospital plan, i am glad i left because i am saving 300 bucks on gym via discovery but for a hospital plan spectramed sure paid a lot of other things dicovery would never.

Eitherway, you'll still feel like you're being gang r***d in the a**! Boy do I hate paying for Discovery Medical Aid....it's just one of those things that one can't go without, especially with all the accidents and crime in our beloved country!

Sorry can't help on this.

BTW I'm a 24 year old male with my GF on Discovery Health (Essential Saver), as from next year I'll be paying R2190 pm and that Medical Savings account runs out after 2 visits to a GP!!!!

Weigh it up from your companies medical aid which is usually subsidised and then look to the larger medical aids like Discovery,Momentum etc for pricing benefits. It depends on how you want to use your medical aid they are all different.

Hi, I am on Momentum Coastal Saver, Associated Hospitals and State Chronic, I figure that I am still young for Chronic so i dont mind that part, Associated hospital is ok just make sure of your hospitals in your area, close to you are associated e.g. Life, some Netcare's not all as i recently found out 30% co-payment applies. Day to Day cover e.g. doctors, medicine, and dentist etc come out of your savings which standard is 10% of your premium you can increase it, you pay more, or take out health saver abt R120 extra for those times you get depleted.

My experience has been great with Momentum over the years I just wish they would add more to the Savings, but then again they cover certain things on major medical benefit where others take it out your savings. So way up your affordability with the cost and benefits you gain and im sure you will find one that is suited to your needs.

Something I have done is supplement my Discovery hospital plan with a medical aid top up insurance. It's R99 a month (for either a single person or a whole family - the rate is the same), and it effectively increases Discovery's 100% contribution to 400%. Sounds too good to be true, although I personally know someone who has this insurance and claimed on it a few months back without any problems. Search for medical aid gap cover, there's plenty to choose from.

Sounds great. Who did you take out gap cover with?

Generally, you should shop around according to your needs..

If you want, I can try get hold of a textbook covering medical aid schemes etc. It covers this topic more-or-less.
:)

If you are a graduate or have a 4 year degree you can try Profmed. They are a great Medical Aid and is restricted to Business proffesionals and graduates of 4 year degrees. They offer comprehensive cover, information and always friendly and knowlegable.
Their website is www.profmed.co.za

I think I am still on topic here, but this is discovery spesific. The whole whole cover for dental treatment in hospital - is that for the dentist or something else. Because if I have to pay the amount before R3000 for dental, then it is a rip off. I just want to clean my teeth once a year.

Hi, sorry to bother you...

I just wanted to know if you are still on profmed?
