Hey guys,

So I'm helping out a friend who is an oncologist, they're currently paying a lot for their medical management system (claim codes/billing etc).

Any good affordable systems out there with local medical aid claim code support?

Thanks.

Define what is affordable of maybe let us know what are they currently using?

What are they currently paying? Let's see if it is actually out of line first.

They're currently using a third party that takes like 7% of proceeds, they're having a look at GoodX, do you know if any locals make use of OpenEMR (open source)?

7%!!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea what it should be, but that just sounds like a lot.

Jip, normally these guys take anything from 5% and up, but probably can be negotiated! I know of someone who worked at GoodX and now at Axialmed who does exactly this, will give you a PM.

Thought most of them were based on each claim submission costing something like R5-10, not a revenue basis?

Issue with open source projects is that they (I stand corrected) do not include switching part (Medikredit, Healthbridge, Switch) and you do not want to do it manually.
Also you need rates that are changing yearly for procedures.

Try MedEdi

No affiliation, but I know that my wife uses it - apparently very user-friendly too.

ETA: They provide a total solution, including desktop support, or so I am led to believe.

If it is third party, which switching house is it using?

As Supervan said Mededi is one of the popular ones.

What your Practice likely wants is their Integrated billing and Oncology Management with PracticePerfect - MedEDI is the billing side and does not do charts, Labs etc - thats what PP is for

Can I PM you to get the sales people* to contact you ?

My Dad used a system called Mass in his practice. This is back in the day that you had the 56k Dialup Modems. I would wait for my mom to make her final entries on her patient files for the day with Nappi codes etc and then start up the EDI that transmits it to Mass and they submit the claim to the Medical Aid. I wonder if they are still around. Oh.....also had those old tape back up drives lol.

Cannot immediately get any hits on that name. Name is quite similar to MedeMass, but that was only founded back in 2016 after a merger or something. Need to do some research,

It is seriously old. It ran on a Windows 95 machine and had a interface similar to this, but blue background and white font. I had to smudge some things because this is a live system in use, but it gives you a idea. lol
