I've got a recurring problem with my Mega 100WR. The router keeps dropping the LAN connections and is unaccessible until I restart the router. All four LAN lights come on and there are only 2 LAN connections. Windows reports hat it has lost the LAN connection.

I've moved the router to a cold, well ventilated room because I thought it might be overheating but the problem still occurs. Sometimes I've got to switch the router off for an hour before it will connect stably again.

I've scanned both computers for viruses. I've disabled the DHCP server and manually assigned IPs and DNS servers. I am running 2 PCs by LAN cable with the router in bridge mode. The firewall is active and I've disabled the wireless.

I had this same problem with the Telkom Marconi router and the ADSL guys told me to swop it out, which I did.

The other problem is that the reset button on the router doesn't seem to work at all - is the router supposed to be powered on or not when you use the reset?

Are you by any chance using a Nvidia NIC? Nvidia network controllers have a problem some refer to as "soft disconnect". Windows forgets that the connection is internet and LAN and disconnects the NIC.

I have seen that this issue is caused by the drivers released in 2007. I think I'm using a driver release at the moment from September or October 2006. Since reverting back to the old driver, the soft disconnect issue has disappeared completely ;)

Let me know if it this....

No. And this would only effect the individual PC not the router in any way.

Mega 100WR disconnect issue

Greetings all,
Am having a similar problem. The router ran fine for about 48 hours, and then suddenly windows reported lost or limited network connectivity. The funny thing was that the lan seemed to be functioning ok (I could see all shared folders etc on the other pc's on the lan), but no-one could connect to the internet or log into the router. At the same time, all lights on the router (LAN, ADSL link & internet connection) were lit, indicating no problem.

After switching the router off and on again, the problem seemed to correct itself, only to recur a short while later. Now the problem seems to repeat itself every now and then, and is usually corrected by switching the router off and on again.

The symptom suggests a router hardware problem but would appreciate a solution from anyone who has had (and solved) a similar problem - a firmware upgrade perhaps ??

Many thanks & kind regards

As i said in a previous post, these routers ARE CRAP, i also got one for free from telscum, but im getting a netgear soon :)
