Mega bits per second is a unit of measure used for Download and Upload speeds, and specifies the number of bits in multiples of 1024 kilo bits that can be transferred within a network or between networks in any given second.

Mbps and Mbits/s are both short for Mega bits per second, and should never be confused with MBps or MBytes/s.
