Mega105wr Wireless Range

Hi, I have my telkom mega105wr router connected to my pc via Ethernet cable. What i want to do is connect my other pc via wireless. The other pc is in another room about 10 meters and 2 walls away from the router. will the wireless range of the Mega105wr router be strong enough to reach my other pc.

I just want to know will it work before i buy the Wirless PCI LAN card for my other pc, planning on buying a Dlink DWA-510 54mbs PCI LAN card to connect my pc to the router.

This is a toss up, and if you do not test you will never know.

There is so many factors that depend on a good signal, and the Telkom routers are not the best by far and therefore it will be impossible to say "yes".

If there is not much electronic interference (TV, microwave, radio, etc.) then you will get a signal. Not knowing what structure the walls have hidden inside I will venture a "stick my neck out" and say your connection will be strong enough for an internet connection, anything stronger would be a bonus.

Your best be at the end of the day is to just take the leap and see what results you are getting, otherwise 10 people will give you 10 theories and you will still be left in the dark with only theories.

I agree with MyWorld - you won't know until you try. I also have the Telkom Mega 105WR router and a guy who works for the family lives in a granny flat about 15metres from the router and two average brick walls away. He uses a wireless dongle to connect his PC to the router. His signal varies from weak to strong, but the internet is usable 95% of the time. I'd hazard a guess and say you should be fine. Let us know how it works out when you get your card.

the mega 105wr at my parents house services 4 wireless machines...the furtherest being about 20 to 25 meters and 4 walls away it works fine.

Bought the Pci Wifi card 2day, n yip it works great, signal strenght is very good. get 4 sumtimes 5bars signal strengh.
