Does anyone here use their VPN solution ?

We've recently signed up, but I must admit that their service - albeit what we all want/need - has been unreliable and slow.

Perhaps this is just a case of bad luck for them, as they say they are having technical difficulties, and I just keep experiencing just that.

What are your experiences with them ? Have any of you had any luck getting hold of them beyond office hours (very frustrating when you need the net) ? Are you getting the throughput of your VPN ie. kbps that you get on a 128K VPN ? Does anyone know of anyone else offering a similar service ?

Thanks

i thought megalan would be super cool, but i still dont have my static ip and the service is so unstable and they dont reply to my emails, i'm sending my cancelation notice today. will rather try sentech whenever someone can say they are any good. seems like we just cant get any good service in sa.

Again, we're experiencing serious and significant instability/reliability from them. They have an excellent opportunity to provide a very good service, but they are squandering it by their poor service and unreliability.

Typical I guess.

That's it... if you are considering to go with the one-man-band Megalan, I'd advise against it!

You're not much better of with them than Telkom, because their service is just as plain pathetic as from Telkom.

They offer a Static IP on their 128/256 sync solutions, but what they don't tell you is that it's not a routable IP, it's NAT-ted into oblivion! What a mess.

Also, that damn VPN server that you are supposed to connect to goes down (for an indefinite period of time) on average 2 times every hour, and they are unavailable about 3-6 hours out of every 24.

Don't waste your time or money! Oh yeah, and be weary they have a 60 days notice period for cancellations, so if you sign up and then cancel they sqeeze you for two months worth of service.

WHO CAN GIVE ME INTERNET CONNECTIVITY THE WAY I WANT IT WITH A SERVICE????

(Sorry about the rant, but I do feel better now...)

Yep they really are offering a bad service.

I also thought i t was just my timing so i decided to get a monitoring utility and as far as i can see on the utility they have been down the whole day today(30th October).

I am also handing in my cancellation tomorrow I am truly disappointed.

[:(]

If you were thinking of joining ... all I can say is think really carefully about it .. like Kosie said, there is a 60 cancellation.

Damn and for a minute there I thought we were gonna have an alternative to the cap. Thanks for your input guys. Almost made a bad decision there. You are not the only ones that have had trouble. Mate's of mine have had days of down time with megawan.

Not that I can say "I told you so", but I saw this coming a mile off. I must admit that I too was initially intrigued by their offering, but after reading the posts by Savage as well the inability to contact them via phone or email I decided it better to try bash through the wall that is Telkom, rather than try skirt it.

The problem with this product is that it was/is based on Telkom's stranglehold on the industry. Not a very sound business plan if you ask me.

Maybe some one should run a local proxy with login etc and charge like R95 a month for access to it.
