Our ADSL in melkbosstrand went out on Thursday evening. Voice line works, so I called tech support and they told me there's a network fault in the area. The adsl is still not up today.

WTF is going on? Is it normal for outages to last this long? How can Telkom just leave paying customers without service for days on end? We need the internet for paying bills and I need to access study material from MyUnisa for the exam I'm writing on Tuesday with no other way to access it because the POS blackberry I've got doesn't even hit 2kb/s.

Does anyone know if there's a number I can call to get more clarity on the fault, because I fail to see how it can take them more than 4 days to fix an ADSL networl fault.

Use 3G until it's running again. There are so many connectivity options available if your ADSL goes down, it shouldn't be a problem.

Sadly, there is basically no 3G reception in our area. Our back-door neighbors bought some kind of 3G booster a while back, but even with that they can't really get reliable reception.

Look on that website to see in which areas ADSL is down, Melkbos seems to be down since Friday, at least they are aware of it.

Yeah, I saw a similar notification on NetworkFail on Friday. I wasn't home Thursday evening, but according to the rest of my family the adsl has been down since then. If anything, I'd just like to find out if Telkom is at least working on the problem or if it's on some kind of backlog that they're still going to get to. 4 days without ADSL access is so frustrating. It feels like I'm cut off from the world. :(

They do unfortunately, but you would more than likely see a "service interruption credit" on your next bill ;)
