Hi.

Anyone used Sporton's Melotone Syrup during their studies? Read on FB from an an accounting lecturer how he used this syrup to help him through CTA and articles en-route to obtaining his CA(SA) designation.

Is it safe? Would you use it?

It looks innocent enough. Really just a supplement with high levels of omega oils and zinc. You should avoid anything with Ginko Biloba in it. It's added to some of these "tonics" as a brain stimulant but can cause seizures. My son took one of these tonics during his matric prelims and had a grand mal seizure from it and he'd never displayed any tendency towards epilepsy.

Being stressed before one Hons. exam and unable to sleep, I glugged a large dose of Tassenberg from a demijohn - it helped a lot.

I use Liviton syrup during exam & insane deadline times at work. They claim all kinds of liver cleansing properties, but it's basically a crap load of caffeine, some vitamins & minerals. It helps me so much with focus, memory / recall, and thinking creatively in a pinch.

But forget sleeping at all, which could be a positive or negative, depending on whether you want to pull all nighters.
