Could you guys who work with PC's a lot tell me if I can use DDR2 PC5300 SO DIMM memory modules in a laptop that is specified to run on DDR2 PC4200.

Will it work? And will there be any issues?

No it should work all ram will downcolck to a lower speed if it is put into a slower system. What you won't get is dual channel performance if you mix and match and if you system caters for dual channel then you will lose performance and you system may even run slower under certain circumstances than it did with the lower amount of RAM

Will you lose dual channel performance even if both the RAm modules are the same specs - i.e. both are PC5300 running at 667mhz but the notebook specifies PC4200 ?
