Hi,

I have been having a rather irritating issue with my memory.

I have a pair of 2GB trancend RAM modules that I put into a LANPARTY DK 790FXB-M2RSH SOCKET AM2+ motherboard.

The issue is that as soon as I start up the PC it says that I only have 128mb of RAM. When I restart the PC it will freeze right before I reach the memory test. After I restart from there it will say I have 128mb of RAM again.

It does boot into windows however but only picks up 128mb of RAM.
(Windows XP Pro Service pack 2)

I sent in my PC to the place where I bought the RAM so they could test it...
The wrote out a report that the RAM is fine but the Boards RAM slots are faulty.

I then sent the Board back to the place where I bought it and after they tested it the report says the board is fine

I sent it to the board suppliers now with my RAM and CPU.

Is there a possibility that the CPU could be the cause?
Is there a known compatibily issue with Trancend RAM?

Any advice or thoughts on the issue would be much appeciated.
Thanks in advance.

Description How to find your motherboard version?

NOTE: users of WindowsXP 32bit and 64bit can use Winflash to update their bios if they do not have a floppy drive. Click here to download Wiinflash Ver 1.92 and Click here to view instructions for flashing bios using Winflash Ver 1.92 , only if you are using winXP 32 bit or 64 bit.

NOTE: users with VISTA 32 bit or VISTA 64 bit should NOT use Winflash 1.92 to flash bios but should use a USB stick. You can Click HERE to view instructions for flashing bios with Usb stick when your operating system is VISTA 32 bit or VISTA 64 bit.

Major Reasons of Change:
1.Change detect SPD function for DDR1066.

Thing is it was working fine until a few days ago... I dunno why it would suddenly need a a BIOS update?

Thanks alot vatso...

Will see what the outcome is when it returns from the supplier and then if necessary then I will try the udate.

hopefully the supplier will be able to find and fix the problem for you.

Well it would be nice of them :) Even if they could suggest the BIOS update.
If they can't figure out what the problem is it would be swak of them.

But yeah hopefully they can sort it out.

Update:

Got a call from dfi today...

There was a problem with the board, they didn't specify what it was.
I'll probably have it back by 2morrow.

Thanks for the suggestions vatso
