We just got an email here at work, saying one of the ladies upstairs is in hospital with meningitis (The same lady I had a meeting with on Friday) Had a headache all week which they say is a sign you have it..

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the process of being tested? Will I get the results immediately?
 
Go to a Doc asap.

Meningitis is a killer, never ever take a chance with it. This is not the place you should be asking for help right now ;)

GET TO A DOCTOR ASAP !
 
I had it when I was a child. It's hardly a normal headache, it's your entire back of your head and neck that pains like nothing else ever will. I couldn't move my head at all.

As I remember they took blood tests when I was small, I might be wrong though, it was long ago. I spent about a week and a half in hospital (drips, whole works) ;)

Is your neck stiff? Being tested involves bloodwork and usually (and this will hurt) requires a Lumbar puncture

Going at 10:30 but have dinner with a girlfriend and her kids, so want the results asap else I can not go knowing the possibility of the children getting it..

I have had a really bad headache and taken everything from panado to synap to get it to go away.. When running last night, I almost fell over..

Anyways, hold thumbs.. I am quickly going to find out.. :(

If possible stay away from friends/family till you know you're in the clear, isnt Meningitis contagious?

No, they didn't do this procedure on me, then again, this was the early 90's ;)

Yes it is.
 
Had it when I was small - was hospitalized for a week or so. Can't remember anymore what it was like etc...

Might not even come to that, they do other tests first. :)

That is for conformation if the think you have it. Also with the heat this week a lot of people have got headaches.

Get checked and rather be sure though.

i've had an lumber puncture before... lets just say its not the coolest thing to have done to you out there!!

Meningitis is serious but its not that easy to catch. The chances that you have it are slight, but if you have any of the symptoms, then you should have yourself checked out. the symptoms are stiffness in the neck, photo sensitivity, sensitivity to loud noises, a constant headache, dizzyness, nausea...
