Head gaskets blown. advised that heads have to be reconditioned i.e. pressure tested, schemed and reconditioned.

is it necessary to replace water pump and oil pump? Any advice on cost and what to have checked?

Typically no, but you will need to inspect them for any signs of damage, usually a visual inspection and a clean up is all that's needed. If they're still the original parts, it may be worthwhile to overhaul them by replacing things such a seals and bearings

Get the timing chain checked for stretch and wear, check the plastic chain guides for wear and check the tensioner.
