Hi

This is occurring more frequently now when I forward messages. Why is that? Using Kmail since 2005.

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

[email protected]

message has lines too long for transport

Return-path: <xxx@xxxxx.co.za>
Received: from 111-111-111-111.ip.afrihost.capetown ([111.111.111.111]:53394 helo=fractal.localnet)
by smtp.afrihost.co.za with esmtp (Exim 4.96)
(envelope-from <xxx@xxxx.co.za>)

id 1oqBcR-0001aA-2s

Hi, please check if your mail client app is configured to wrap the sentences within the email.

Here we go

Here we go

70?
AFAIK standard as 78, been using that since forever.

RFC 2822 contains this text about line lengths, which is where this likely comes from:

There are two limits that this standard places on the number of
characters in a line. Each line of characters MUST be no more than 998 characters, and SHOULD be no more than 78 characters, excluding the CRLF.

This issue still persists, Seems to be when I try to forward mails that originated from Microsoft mail system.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

message has lines too long for transport

All I do is click "Forward" and original message is added as attachment. It always worked in the past.

Thanks, Ian

FWIW, I daily forward mails that originate as cron jobs on my server that have lines more than double the 78 max (because bank statements), and those messages go through fine.

It's just MS crud that causes the issues ...

Hi

Do you use the @afrihost.co.za free email account and smtp.afrihost.co.za ?
