The Gauteng metered taxi revitalisation programme has already become mired in controversy, just two months after its high-profile launch.
...

Two months after the launch, not a single operator has paid a cent towards their vehicle's monthly instalments.

This is despite the fact that they are already making money from their taxis.
They blamed the dispute on a rush to "cash in on and impress" Soccerex delegate

Yet another bunfight. What a bunch of fskwits. When is government actually going to do something constructive about the taxi industry and public transport in general ?

lol - who would have thought otherwise.
And the second the guavamint threatens to repossess said vehicles, they will be burnt.

I found this bit the most amusing:

Letlala added that the programme was a good thing and that "if operators find it not working, let them return the cars".

Meanwhile, he has also been criticised by operators for allocating cars to his wife, son and daughter at a time when there was a waiting list for vehicles.

"All those Letlalas were allocated vehicles because they were holders of valid operator's licences," Letlala said.

Letlala himself received two vehicles - an Avanza and a Mercedes-Benz.

Haha did they think they were dealing with respectable busniness men?....Haha

I have no words for this! This is absolutely ridiculous! A contract with no details on the installment amount and I presume no payback period either? And the whole family get in on the deal as well. What about vested interest and nepotism?!
