Apparently the Redux version is **** / dummed down. So do I rather take the originals over the redux versions?

I have both but haven't played either.

The Redux version isn't dumbed down. The graphics are improved a lot and the gameplay adds two modes - Survival and Spartan - which let you play it in either run/gun or stealth style. So you can have the original gameplay if you select the Spartan mode and performance is much better.
