Metro Exodus pulled from Steam - Epic Games only now.

Valve quote on the matter

https://www.pcgamer.com/metro-exodus-epic-store-steam/

"We think the decision to remove the game is unfair to Steam customers, especially after a long pre-sale period," Valve wrote on the Metro Exodus store page. "We apologize to Steam customers that were expecting it to be available for sale through the February 15th release date, but we were only recently informed of the decision and given limited time to let everyone know."

Lol - with tencent the 40% shareholders of Epic Games - I guess we can thank Naspers yet again for anti-competitive behavior (the majority owners of tencent).

Poor steam bois
You don't need to be a steam fanboi to see that this is not a good development. Since when does "Exclusivity" benefit anyone apart from shareholders or directors of a company? Wouldn't you rather see them fight it out with price?

What makes it super weird is the decision to pull it from Steam then say it will be added back to Steam in 2020.....

Anyway, I pre-ordered when it was priced incorrectly on SA steam store so got a good deal last year.

But returns are more if you do not use steam as a channel. Perhaps steam should drop their 30% to a reasonable amount? or we could keep on supporting steam's practices.

Not going to argue with that - Steam do charge too high a store fee, and one of the few good things that a war like this may address. A point to note however, is that if a developer uses normal distribution channels, their cut is closer to 50% - so steam handling the distribution is a win for them.

But rather than store exclusivity to drag gamers in, it should be done with price - and if the Epic Store only charges 12%, then they should be competitive - strangely, they are not.

The main point (as highlighted in the above video), is that steam has a far more mature platform, with steam reviews from actual owners of the game - Epic does not even have that yet.

They signed a 1 year exclusively agreement with Epic. Pre-orders on Steam will be honoured incl. DLC.

The Division 2 will also later return to Steam.

So Epic Launcher now has regional pricing, via VPN I can see the pricing in Namiba and Nigeria are at around $17. Other developing countries have cheaper prices as well.

South Africa? Still $59.99.

Uhm... Naspers only own 31% of Tencent, who only own 40% of Epic games. Also it was the publisher Lock Media's decision to pull the game from Steam, not Epic Games.
