Hi Guys,

I hope someone on the forum can assist. I recently joined Metro Fibre as a direct customer. I noticed that my NAT type is Moderate, IPvP6 is not active and UPnP is off. I have tried explaining to the help desk staff that my Fibre line is used for IOT, Smart Home devices and Gaming but still they fail to configure my Fibre Router correctly. I have tried to make the changes on the router but see it’s grey off, possibly needing administrative rights to make the changes. Currently this line is useless to me 500mb Down / Up . Have any of you experienced this with MetroFibre and should I just cancel and move to a different ISP

If i understand correctly they use the ont as a router. Upnp would be seen as asecurity risk. Their network likely doesn't have IPv6 enabled. Perhaps get your own router if that's an option with them direct, or choose another isp on their network and get your own router. Learn to use a MikroTik as well. Will be beneficial with all the smart home /iot/gaming

Hi @Scorpion101

Which ONT do you have? Calix? or a different model?
Have you looked into requesting a static IP for your service? Might help with your IoT stuff etc...

On the Calix ONT's customers have full access rights to make changes on the device - not too familiar with the Alcatel and Nokia ONT's used in certain other areas on the network...
