Now this will almost certainly raise a few red flags from a lot of you out there but I just need to know... Would it really be the worst decision ever to purchase a 2014 MG MG6? Use to have a secret love for this brand when it was still purely British (MG ZR, Rover 75) but then it went under and was revived by its new owners, some Chinese group. The 5 door design is really sleek but I just need some assurance from someone who's owned one or knows a thing or two about them. Yes I know it's no German but can I source the parts locally seeing as most CMH dealers sell these cars. Thanks in advance

There were a couple of RG motorsport editions at my local CMH Ford a while ago, tuned for 165kW and 315Nm, very well priced, if I was not so broke I would have bought one of those. The standard MG 6 is not too shabby in the power stakes at 118kW.

As for maintenance and service it looks like CMH will sort you out as they are the official importers in SA. They are well priced and good value for money.

Well fellas I'm most surprised by the responses. Thought I was the only retard that found a charm to them. Chinese group aside, I'm sure they still have the blueprints to the basic engineering when they were still under BMW hey. will most definitely be looking into one

It's by all means a beautiful car. There was some complaints that the plastic give problems and the chrome on the gear nob falls off. this was however the first cars that was made by the Chinese. The engines was also much heavier on fuel than claimed.

I don't know how much has changed since. I was looking at one until I read all the problems.

Back when I was looking at buying a car and eventually settled on an aelantra, the MG6 did pop up. Long story short:

Build quality is not great. The "chrome" on the gear knob, for instance, wore off quickly on a long term road test. And then they pulled out of the country if I'm not mistaken.

Unless it is dirt cheap, skip it.

They did pull out of the country, but CMH is doing the maintenance on those and yes they are very cheap.
