Anybody know where I can get the power supply? Mine got fried.

Any 5V 2A power supply will work, if you just want to get a USB charger and buy or make a cable the plug is 4.0mm x 1.7mm.

There's two options there and I was thinking of the second as a better long-term one rather than a dedicated power supply. Where could one get the cable plugs or read made ones? I have need for a smaller one for a Mecer for example.

Mantech appears to keep the plugs. You would need to cut off the micro USB plug on a standard cell phone charger cable and replace it with the 1.7x4.0mm plug.

Surely the plug did not get fried as well? - just cut it off about 3 cm from the plug and then connect it to a suitable 5v 2A PSU making sure that inner pin is +

Once you done connecting, just first make sure the polarity with multi meter. Should read 5v and not -5v.

Yes - the outer sleeve of the plug is ground and the inner (female) part of the plug is +5v
