The DIY and Hardware industry is very similar to the automotive parts industry, especially regarding product range, market dynamics and supply chain.
Mica was founded 25 years ago with a vision of creating a voluntary trading group of the leading hardware retailers in Southern Africa. Today the Mica Group has 180 member-owned stores with an estimated combined retail turnover of R2 billion. It is the leading brand in the “do-it-yourself” and hardware market in South Africa and is also represented in UK, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia.
In March 2005, Mica South Africa signed a strategic collaboration partnership agreement with Mitre 10 New Zealand. Representing more than 400 stores in South Africa and New Zealand, this partnership will capitalise on the synergies that exist in terms of global procurement, retail best practice principles and logistic strategy exchange.
