This is Hollywood. Pampered prats are overwhelmed when faced with such a daunting situation. Tom Cruise thinks his job is as hard as a soldier's in Afghanistan :erm:

Sensationalism at it's best. Charlie Sheen had a meltdown. The leave britney alone kid had a meltdown.
This is more akin to "walking off the stage because of nervousness, after teleprompter screw-up"

Personally I don't see what the big fuss is all about, just because he's a director doesn't mean he can go up on stage and give a speech without being nervous.

I would of done exactly the same if I was put in that situation.

I do public speaking pretty often and sometimes also get very nervous and for a split second also think of walking off, start sweating, heart beat shoots up etc. Luckily never this bad though but I'd imagine if my presentation had to jsut disappear in front of 100's of people and cameras I'd probably do the same.

Looking at it again, he looked like a wreck the second he walked on stage even before looking at the teleprompter. He even mucked up his introduction. You don't need a teleprompter for that.
