Our accounts person asked me why her statements had a .micro extension after .pdf...?
She must have opened one of those dodgy mails with subject lines mostly relating to invoice/account overdue/proof of payment attached etc.
While I was looking for a possible solution, she restarted her machine and we got the ransomware note which basically says if you want your files back, pay xxx in Bitcoins to account xxxxx. If not payed in 48 hours, the price doubles.
Has anyone come up with a solution on how to decrypt the files affected? The ransomware has encrypted files at random. Some of the files are part of pastel. The accounts lady had not done backups since last Wednesday.
It's a long shot, but hoping there has been some development I may have overlooked. I have the drive connected to a Mac via USB and have managed to recover some key files which had not been infected. But others ... not.
Any advice would be most appreciated.
