Those familiar with the term microdosing in regards to psychedelics, will have some understanding of the possible reasons for undertaking such an endeavour.

For those who are NOT familiar....

Microdosing is the act of taking a tiny dose of a psychedelic substance, way below the threshold dose so that no actual ‘hallucinogenic’ effects are present, yet just enough of a dose to exhibit very subtle shifts in perception.

Known as a sub-perceptual dose, anecdotal evidence suggests that microdosing can offer a variety of benefits, such as potential increases in overall well-being, creativity, mood lifts, energy, focus, and healthier interpersonal relationships.

Anybody tried and documented this? Please share you experience.

I remember reading an article about a guy doing the same thing but with LSD (tried looking for the link but apparently it was not on Lifehacker as I thought).

The short of it. He used two accepted Psychological tests that determine your creativity levels and level of overall happiness. At the end of the month experiment both the creativity and happiness scaled improved with two points (creativity was on a scale of 7 and happiness on a scale of 5) but he said he did not notice any change other than the scores.

Yes... The benefits were subtle, and were in preparation for a 5 gram 'heroic dose' trip. The heroic dose, although one of the most difficult experiences of my life, seems to have had an effect on my mood for months and months.

Assuming not physically difficult, would you mind briefly saying where the difficulty lay? I've almost always found the difficulty arise from looking truthfully at my life; not glossing over the ugly parts. Shrooms provides a mirror of such honest resolution that no matter how difficult the experience is, it's always left me more at peace with myself & with a clearer view of where I'm going.

@marvymarv007: Have microdosed, didn't notice enough change to continue. You'll probably get more benefit from exercise, diet, meditation etc. If you don't pay attention to those, then microdosing might be better than nothing, but I think the those other things should come first.

It was physically difficult dealing with nausea etc at such a high dose, but that was nothing compared to the mental difficulty. As you say.... a mirror of honest resolution! Luckily I had a well trained facilitator - although she did not intervene much :D

Yes I agree, I should have actually said, "seems to have had a POSITIVE effect on my mood for months and months"

Tell us more. What happened etc

I tried it - had no effect. But then haven't found anything other than alcohol that does.

A friend is doing it and finding very positive results. She suffers from poor self esteem and depression and a need to belong. Says it is helping her.

I'm actually thinking about doing shrooms, apparently they help remap your brain

They do. One of my experiences lasted for a few weeks. I felt like a new person, but I could feel it fading away. I was energetic, positive, ambitious; whenever I had an idea of something I wanted to do or needed to do, I would write it down and I would follow through with it. I felt as if I was finally going to become the person I wanted to be, but alas, it gradually faded away over a few weeks :( I will never forget the experiences, though. They were absolutely magical.

I've done it a couple of times now. It's not something you can really just share on a forum... would take pages and pages... and there are already plenty of trip reports on the net

yeah I don't think it's a magic bullet... if you don't actively put in effort to change your life then you might walk away with new insight, but it's not going to change your life for you. that said I've found it a great "kickstarter"

I have only ever done a full dose, it was great but would not consider this for work.

microdosing is below threshold of perception, so it shouldn't effect your ability to work, unless increased creativity and perception is a bad thing for your job!

it's also usually microdosed every 4th day (if I remember correctly), with the second day being most noticable

Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Im considering microdosing 0.3g every day.....looking at documenting this over a 6month period.

How much did you do though?

Consider taking breaks. James Fadiman in his microdosing protocol suggests every 4th day afaik as the body needs time to integrate the changes. The goal isn't to alter your chemistry every day - it's to alter it once every few days and have those changes integrate into your life; the rest period is required for proper integration.
