Well the got Office Accounting which is good so why would they then hold onto money?

Can Money be converted to Office Accounting?

I have almost 10 years in MS Money :(

I never used Money extensively - I saw it being demo'd about 2 years back. And it seemed nice. Does Office Accounting also cater for personal finances?

Really hope there's going to be some alternative - I sometimes need the 10yr old information.

I am Money 2007 user. Should I upgrade to Money Plus before sales end?

If you are still using Money 2007, it is not recommended that you upgrade to Money Plus at this time.

Same here :(
Been going to the money site often to check for a new version.

I think we may have to start using Quicken at some stage, it takes forever to convert the files and do your fixes.
Never liked Quicken - And the Mac version is terrible.

Seems Microsoft are shutting down their smaller franchises gradually.
Encarta is finished as well, and MS Works will probably also be stopped now.

Seems there might be hope - only thing is MS Accounting probably isn't meant for a home user - so want look pretty, and track investments, etc. :(

I've also been using a old version of money (Also 2007) to keep track of my finances/accounts etc.

Going to have to start looking around. :(

MS Accounting doesn't look too bad - but yeah, it looks like it targeted at business.

Update: Ohh - wait a sec. They have an Accounting express version for free!!

Important note: At this time, Office Accounting Express is designed for US and UK based small businesses only and does not support local requirements outside of these two countries. The version you are about to download is the US version. If you require the UK version please visit www.msofficeaccounting.co.uk

U.S. version only.
Download size: 161MB
Requirements: Windows XP/2003 Server/Vista
License: FREE. Absolutely no strings attached.

Gonna download and give it a whirl. Hopefully its not too limited for using outside the US

Even if MS doesn't sell it, the copy you have will continue to work, so those who have 10 years of history will still be able to reference their data even although the current data is being processed by another package

Now i'm wondering if ABSA will stop letting you download those OCX files that you use to import the data.
Hope they don't. :(

Which Money version do u use? I'm on 2007.

Found this:

2007 - I do everything manually, so not worried about downloading statements :)

Thats not the problem - it might not work on the next release of Windows, or maybe the release after that.

Eventually it won't work - might as well start getting used to something new now :(

You mean OFX? You can import ofx files into MS accounting 2009 Express

Anyways, I have switched from pastel to MS ACcounting 2009. Its a great piece of software. If you downloaded the express edition and want to change the currency, read here how to http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=175493

Running in compatibility mode will probably fix any problems. Win 7 will, I believe, offer WinXP execution option to allow apps to run in a virtual machine running WinXP.

Yeh - but there's no Win3.1 mode :p I'm not worried about compatiblilty in the next 4-5 years, its in the next 10 years. (I've already been using the product for only 10 years - before now there was no reason to stop.

I'm running Money 2005 on Win7 with absolutely no problems. If you want something close to certainty over the next 10 years then your best bet is to virtualize your current machine.

BTW, I've got a Win 3.1 app running in a vm :)
