Microsoft adding mouse and keyboard support to Xbox One

Best decision they've ever made. Don't know why they didn't implement that back in the XBox 360 days already.

Pc gaming will take a hit, why spend 20k+ on a gaming pc when a cheap(er) console can do the same thing

Makes the XBOX One X a no brainer to purchase then... strategy games are just so much better with a keyboard andmouse...

Hahahahaha

NO!
Ah yes, the pc master race that compares a game running on a rtx 2080 to a console .. and yes I mentioned the 2080 since its not out yet but guaranteed people are basing stats off it.

Just remember to revise that statement when the 3080 comes out. Seems the brains goes automatically to "best" card available and nvidia nogal.

Because you're already spending 8-9k on a normal work machine, adding a bit and then taking into account cheaper games, plus being able to swap out parts cheaply, and free games like Dota 2, LoL, etc. then why would you want a console...
Also, a console can't do what a PC can. :p

Wow, people have become shortsighted, they cant think beyond the best settings, what a pc can do and what a console cant. I myself was a pc gaming fanboy that would have assaulted any console news.

Consoles are bought for a reason, not to try vpn/rdp into work and do that last bit of work you forgot to finish. that's where your phone/laptop/tablet (project to bigger screen/usb hub etc, dont make me think for you) comes in.

Compare AAA titles, not some crappy old game that will work on an intel HD4000. Yes you will have higher settings available on pc, yes a pc can do more than a console. But you will still enjoy the game on an xbox compared to a higher priced midrange pc that cant produce the same frames as the console. ( going 2nd hand ofc is another option/argument altogether which usually still ends up costing more than plonking down a xbox one you get on special or 2nd hand)

Now a normal work pc, err, why even bring that up,
That wont be able to deliver xbox one quality graphics. Unless it was a custom built pc. 95% of the prebuilt ones either wont have a x16 pci-x slot or a custom psu thats underpowered and cant be replaced.. unless you replace the case, which ends up not working due to custom front panel headers.

Then factor in if its the work pc's 8-9k budget included the crappy monitor, meaning the base machine is even lower specced than one would usually have if you go for a tower without a monitor.

As for the Nvidia statement, I havent used them for 10 years+. AMD has much better cost to performance than the overpriced green logo. Used that as the example since the pc master race always uses them as a benchmark, even if AMD claws back, they still build their golden pedestals for their green logo.

Perfect timing, I just bought an Xbox over the weekend & struggling to get used to the controller in shooting games..

I think you're missing the point with best settings etc. That was never the argument.

When was the argument that you wouldn't enjoy gaming on the Xbox?
"higher priced midrange that can't produce the same frame rates" - does not compute. That's nonsense.

Bringing in work PC as you're going to spend some money because you need it anyways, so you can just spend more and let it also handle gaming for you at a cheaper price difference than the console while delivering better performance and a cheaper upgrade path.

AMD had* much better cost to performance. Not for anything above the 1060 about.
I have had 2x280X, one died so got a 1060 6GB for cheaper than a RX580 second hand as market's flooded with them. AMD has nothing above that that even comes close to competing with their Nvidia counterpart.

And I prefer AMD due to Nvidia's shitty Geforce experience.

Cheaper games? Not if you're getting AAA games as they are released, PC games are almost up there with console games and your 8 to 9k work PC isn't going to handle AAA games like the Xbox or PS4 can.

Well BF1 is:

But I think that's wrong, might be bugged in case anyone wants to take advantage of that. Should be around $40.
Same price as Xbox though (as in normal price, $40 base, and then goes up to $80 with ultimate).

Then take into account humble bundle, steam sales, etc.
It will be cheaper.

Agreed. but only as long as the playing field remains even.

It's fine for strategy games, not so much for shooters...

Agreed... its a balancing act that MS have to find...

Though even for Strategy games it skews things quite significantly in multiplayer... a keyboard player can get things done considerably quicker.
