Microsoft and Google cease the peace

Microsoft and Google have decided to stop playing nice.

The two tech giants recently ended a years-long truce during which they agreed not to aim their substantial lobbying firepower against each other. With regulators around the world threatening to impose limits on the power of the biggest technology companies, the two rivals — which compete in web search, cloud computing and artificial intelligence — are now free to step up behind-the-scenes lobbying efforts and public complaints against one another.

The old non-aggression pact, forged at the time by two new CEOs wanting a fresh start on a formerly acrimonious relationship, had already been fraying before it lapsed in April. The companies feuded publicly over a proposal to force Google to pay news publishers for content and squabbled more quietly over technology for selling search ads. Neither company is eager to extend or renew the alliance, according to people familiar with each companies’ thinking, who weren’t authorized to discuss confidential relationships.

Lol then why does everyone hate it being the default on Windows 10?
history.
unlearning the old is often harder than learning the new.
old edge and IE were waay past sell date. google chrome was a better browser.
but things change.
i've ditched chrome and use chedge exclusively.
same with the search engine.

Lol. Like most relationships, the longer you in it, the better the other party knows you, what can I say, Google gives me better search results than Bing.

ok. then use ol' google if that's your pref.
these are tools, not religions.

i'm always game to try something new. msft has changed a lot - as anyone who's in the business knows. chredge (chromium-based edge) is a good and faster-lighter browser, and fast evolving. same with the search engine.

Well I still prefer Mozilla - no matter what you say.

This appeal to evolution fails to move me..... it's no different to an appeal to fashion..... pointless.

Of course the above is not exhaustive.
Besides, I'm not trying to move you or anyone else. Suit yourself.
I've been in this business long enough to know a static view is retrograde. That's why I'm always trying something new.

Besides, I don't like being caught in a single ecosystem.

Every now and then I do a search on Bing just to compare. The first page results often don't match Google and are just way off the mark. Far as I'm concerned it is just a completely useless product pushed because people who install Windows don't know any better

I use Google. Can't find it on Google and switch to Bing. Find it on the first page on Bing.

The technology between search engines differ completely. They aren't the same. Bing is as individual as Google, as you and I.

I still prefer and use Google.
