Microsoft bringing its antivirus to Mac

I've NEVER needed (or used) any form of anti-virus on my linux machines - I'm puzzled why would a Mac even need antivirus protection.

A lot more people are using Macs (I'm talking about people that I know, not in general).

Perhaps if an OS becomes more prevalent, viruses/malware will appear more regularly.

Windows Defender working 100% for me (on my Windows PC). Never had the need to install anything else/additional.

Your porn habits are too vanilla. My late night journeys take me to the most infectious parts of the internet.

I use AV on my linux boxes (clamd)
Of course its to scan for Windows viruses... on file shares and mail..

I do use rkhunter also for scanning for malware on the *nix boxes, as that does popup occasionally with people trying to backdoor wordpress etc.
Mac's are pretty safe from viruses compared to the crap that is Windows, as the OS is better designed (BSD yo!).
Doesn't mean they're immune though, but I've only seen 1 Mac thats been compromised over the last 25 years, and vs about 80% of windows machines I've seen.

If free like on winblows then yes

but then again it may be "free" on winblows because of the windows license one would have paid for

Thanks, but no thanks. I jumped ship to Mac a while back for a reason - I didn't go through the adjustment only to be saddled with MS software again.

OSX used to run clamd as well, not sure if it still does with modern iterations.
