Microsoft Edge leaking users' browsing history to Bing

Reddit users have discovered that the Microsoft Edge browser is leaking users' browsing history to the company's Bing API.

The behaviour occurs in Edge browser versions 112.0.1722.34 and later and appears to be due to a change in the optional "Show suggestions to follow creators in Microsoft Edge" privacy setting.

Privacy violation? I don't think so.
With all these new acts and requirements by various countries, we now have license agreements and websites popups that the user gives consent to

F there is a big I would imagine the bug is in the license agreement. Most websites send your clicks to Google anyways, why not Microsoft as well :-P

What about Google Chrome...? I am sure lots of data is passed along as well?
Yeah, choosing between chrome and edge is like choosing between the ANC and the EFF

Firefox does seem like the DA option. Looks good on the outside, but the more you dig, you realize how much crap is underneath.

Safari is the FF+

Can we go back to the way browsers were in
the early 2000s. When they opened instantly, consumed only 64GB of Ram and pages loaded nearly instantly? I already have N operating system, I don't need to run another one on top of it.

Do you mean megabytes?

Have noticed this. Whenever you go on a website in Bing, look at the bottom corner of first submits to Bing. Very visible in a slow connection. Takes longer to resolve.

The only digital/online privacy that you have, is if you don't use any digital devices/pc's.

The browsers are absolutely to blame for this, 100%, and to make matters worse, the thing that eats multiple megs of ram, is the actual site itself.

Rendering that website to screen costs resources.

It will only get worse, unless there is a revolution in how we create and distribute websites, and what we use them for.

End users and marketing companies want more / better features, and developers want an easier development process / experience.

Rhetorical, I know... Can we go back? Sure. Do people want to? No. They would fall dead over if facef***, instahoe and sh__tok stopped working today. How would millions of men waste the best years of their life supporting only_waaiers, pornhub and cinder

Ultimately it's the society on the internet that decides where the money is, and the tech / motivations just follows.
