just bought Flight Sim X Delux and a Logitech extreme 3D pro joystick for 400 bucks... good deal, private sale, the joystick is next to new.
Do i need updates to play online, prob?

That's not bad... it's the top of the range Logitech if I'm not mistaken...

The force feedback is fun to use now and then, but it does make flying (especially fine-tuned manouvers) quite a challenge.

The graphics in this game seem to be in software mode??

am i missing something here? In setting the video is pointing to my card 8800GTS 512mb, graphics atm are shocking..

Go into the Settings of Flight Simulator.
Make all the Display Settings high or however you would like it. The Higher it is, the better your Graphics will be.

doesnt help, it still looks like its running in software mode with a shocking frame rate.. cant understand it.

I think you might need FSX service pack 1. You can download it from Microsoft.

Settings: Check the following:
Take all settings to absolute maximum, as well as the maximum resolution for your monitor. If it doesn't sort it out, there might be an issue. Worst case scenario, reinstall. M$ FS I mean...

Filtering is on bi linear, and everything else on full.
Will check after SP1 install...
