After a little more than a decade of gaming excellence, Microsoft's Xbox 360 got its official death notice on Thursday.

Microsoft announced in a company blog post that it will stop manufacturing the Xbox 360.

The gaming console will no longer be available after stores around the world sell out their current stock - and availability in any one region will depend on how much stock a particular area has left.

The Xbox 360 was first introduced in 2005. While the 360 had a somewhat rocky debut due to early technical problems that presented many gamers with the dreaded "red ring of death" errors, Microsoft has sold at least 84 million units of the console as of June 2014.

After that, perhaps because of the Xbox One's 2013 debut, it stopped reporting Xbox 360 sales.

Its rival, the PlayStation 3, has an official sales count of 83.8 million units, though the game industry sales website VGChartz puts the PS3 slightly ahead of the Xbox 360 in lifetime sales.

Almost 11 years, the PS2 only went for that so did the PS1. The PS3 will follow shortly, though I think the seventh generation of consoles were just different to previous gens. I don't really know what it was but the seventh generation felt more like gaming to me, with the previous generations I still had a PC. With this generation I slowly moved away from having a PC and just had consoles.

I'm the opposite my PS3 is basically for watching movies/series. Only time its used for gaming is when my nieces and nephews come around.

I doubt I will ever own another console.

I've got a PS3 and a 360, the 360 does get a lot more attention than the PS3 does, it always has for some reason. I did also have three sixth gen consoles so I've been shifting slowly towards the console side, especially in my little place where I don't really have space for a PC either anymore.
 
The 360 had a good run, nobody can deny that. I don't intend on ever getting rid of mine. It will remain hooked up between my Xbox One and my PlayStation 2 (the best console of all time).

Having just come off a great session of Destiny taken King on PS4, I can only say I am enjoying consoles even more.
 
So impressed with Xbox 360,I bought two, one in yon bedroom and the other in lounge, both chipped, get to play old people emulators like sonic on them.....
 
PC where its at ;)

especially now with all the indie love :love:

The games you wanted back then exists now (Open World/etc games)
