I've got one of these babies and it seems to have died on me. Can't find the invoice so don't know if it is still under warranty. Though I think I've had it for more 2 years. So should I just buy a new one or is there a place I can send it to get repaired?

take the batteries out of it.

put a paperclip/make a short between the battery contacts, so that the internal capacitors discharge. only have to hold it there for a few seconds...

put the batteries back in, send me a postcard to show me how happy you are that it is working again.

paper clip to touch both the -ve and +ve points at the same time. So this needs to be done on just one of the bays that hold a battery? will try this evening.

no, not exactly,...

it has two batteries in series...so as per a normal battery bay, two sets of contacts are connected to each other, the other set are connected to - and + on the circuit board.
short out the - and + for the internal circuit board, to discharge the internal caps, and it will start working again.

or, if you just leave it for long enough with batteries out, it'll eventually come right again by itself as the internals discharge.
