With my MTA: Database Fundamentals done and dusted I am looking for the next step to become a MCSE. So I have 3 courses / exams to complete. The cost of all 3 courses is around R 23 000. The cost of only the exams is around R 3000.
So self study is looking like a good option to me.

The first exam I want to do is the Microsoft 70-461: Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
So my question is has anyone done this exam in the past couple of months ?
Is there any tips on what to look out for?
What is the best study material I can get to pass this course?
Has anyone done the course at CTU and do you / they still have the eBooks provided with the course?

Thanks guys I am looking forward to a reply this time.

So wrote this and failed it lol late last year.
Microsoft has a study pack that will have the majority of information in it, PM me of you can't find it. Should still have it.

They ask about triggers, you write scripts, DB options and interestingly enough. All this is for SQL 2014 so you need to know a couple of the newer features.

Go through the exam prep kits from Microsoft. There are kits for 461 462 463, that's mcsa. For 466 467 mcse BI there are no kits but check the presentations on Ms academy.

I did the exams last year and past them all first time (5 exams, 9 months). Had to study hard for the DBA sections (security, high availability and recovery).

I passed mcitp BI and mcse BI all first time. 9 years of SQL/BI helps somewhat, certain I would not have passed the 2 mcse exams without it (same with the final mcitp exam).

Don't waste your time with ridiculous courses that are barebone and overpriced, I fell asleep after 2 hours and bunked the remaining 4.5days of drivel for the 466 course.

Thanks reactor,

I do also do the MVA course. Used that and some makeshift exams to pass the MTA. I do however have very little working experience in this field. Only do it about once a month... Will post once I am done with the exams. Start learning on Monday.
