Those anticipating an Xbox '720' reveal at games industry shindig E3 2012 will be disappointed. Microsoft has insisted it will not discuss next-gen consoles at all this year.

Company spokesman David Dennis quashed widespread speculation that the world was preparing for a major console unveiling this summer.

“There will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon,” said Dennis before insisting: “For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360.”

Lets hope this puts all the rumors to bed :)

This is a good thing I think. Games are already so expensive to make.

Just pity we will have to wait another year for proper HD gaming.

What would have been nice is more media focused unit like the PS3 ... something to stream media, Blu Ray etc

Until E3 actually rolls around and MS show nothing, you can't believe them.

Well even by todays standard its a pretty powerful machine still..for those who don't know, specs below.

Comparing games like Batman Arkham Asylum etc, looks exactly the same (smooth even compared to my recently acquired gtx560), and xbox 360 got launched in 2005? Not bad I think :P

CPU 3.2 GHz PowerPC Tri-Core Xenon
Memory 512 MB of GDDR3 RAM clocked at 700 MHz
Graphics 500 MHz ATI Xenos

I think there's no reason to focus on the next gen xbox as the current xbox 360 is pretty much up to spec with the latest games anyway.

Actually it's the other way around. PC games get limited to console capabilities. That's why they look the same. Have you compared Battlefield 3 on PC and console?

Why not just get a ps3 then?

Some of us don't want a PS3 for whatever reason?

From a MS side, it would have been great to launch something updated that could match the PS3 in other areas
