Microsoft-Nokia deal gets thumbs up in SA

The Competition Tribunal on Wednesday (19 February), approved, without conditions, the merger between Microsoft and handset maker, Nokia.

Actually me neither.

But, there was a time I used to buy Radox deodorant, was my favorite, until one day it just disappeared in all shops. Sent them an email and asked whats up. Response was, they bought out some other deodorant, and the competition tribunal said they have too many deodorants on the market now, it is anti-competitive, so they discontinued their Radox deodorant line, at least in SA.

Eish. Governments claim too much power. Time to scale them back - and get them off our backs.

i suppose if they refused the merger, Nokia and Microsoft would not be allowed to trade in SA but in reality the loss of revenue would have been to much for SA and we would be branded anti business even more than we are, reputation wise.

While I did not know that this is even protocol for multinational mergers, it does make some sense.
