Microsoft Office 2010 on its way

Dam I was just starting to get used to Office 2007....

Check out the alpha screenshots of Office 2010. They look very similar, but there are a few noticeable UI changes.

I can't wait!

I have seen at the Microsoft TechDays Cape Town 2009 that one of the new features is that is that two people can work on the same Word document simutanously for example (even on Office Live). Looks pretty cool.

what trick will ms pull this time..thinking .docx2 maybe?.........nah open office's suite grew up to the point of not only simulating ms office but starting to out shine it aswell...and mahala vs R1xxx-R3xxx?

Anuity

M$ will built in an anuity income for themselves somewhere, making the money blow softer by a period installment (which will give them control over your data)....... and in the long run may even get more money for a product. So as long as one is hooked with new product "improvements" etc from time to time, many many people will keep on paying.......

There are very little for free from M$.

Open Office for me will remain fine. I have control over my own hardware, software and data! Cloud computing reminds in a way of mainframes with dumb terminals 30 years ago.

The only difference between Office XP and Office 2003 was that Office 2003 had a shinier UI. The difference between Office 2003 and Office 2007 was a different UI and that saved documents used less space. Whats the improvement now?

The packaging will be different:)

I hope MS is ready to get sued by either SA government or FIFA (my bet is on the banana republic) for using 2010....!!!

And the banana republic haven't got the legal savvy to initiate legal action of this nature. If they can't blame it on apartheid, they don't know what to do.

headline should be M$kick off office 2010 - seem to remember something about fifa tagging the name, but also remember intel going penti because you cannot copyright a number (486 - 586 etc)

XP and 2003 are good enough. Actually Office for Mac is usually nicer to use than the Windows version.

This is just MS milking businesses, and I doubt they'll bite - especially in this economy.
More and more companies AND businesses are going the OpenOffice route.

A few forum"ites" already hinted this way - donning Office 2007 in 2010 clothes with some added buttons and frills is bound to make the old cash register go kerchink, kerchink afresh!
For those yearning liberation from M$-aplenty, why not exchange IE for Firefox, Outlook for Thunderbird, MSOffice200X for OpenOffice and invest all your saved Rands into something that really pleases you.

Hopefully its not as *** as Office 2007. Oh wait I actually don't care anyways cos I use OpenOffice and save my cash.

Yeah, what more can you do with an Office suite that hasn't been done already (at perhaps a cheaper/free cost)?
