Microsoft Office 2016 prices in SA

We have been having it. Feels like an improvement from 2013 but time will tell. I also just prefer the perpetual licenses as opposed to the Office 365 subscriptions

i installed Office2016 last month, as part of our Office365 subscription. cant tell yet where it is/looks different to Office2013.
guess i need to spend a few minutes to view the "whats new in 2016" demo :)
don't really care much, as long as it works better, and if its been improved in the background.
guess i just expected it to be visibly different in looks, following all the hype ...

at R172pm it works out quite expensive, compared to buying the full (to keep) license of R4900, if you normally take with a new computer replaced over 3yrs cycle
still, at least i use all the modules, word, excel, outlook, ppt, access, onenote, etc... some of our users only use email, with tiny bit of word/excel, yet we pay for Professional version
but then the Pro version has always been quite a bit more pricey, compared to 'standard' versions, all you really get extra is Access

Lol, these guys and their prices...

Google Docs it is.

I've decided to ditch Office though.
I don't understand why MS took away the option to install only those components that you are going to use instead of the whole suite.

You get 1TB storage on OneDrive with Office 365. How is that and all the main Office apps for the equivalent of R60pm not good value? You can usually purchase a year of Office 365 even cheaper if you look around.

Office 365 doesn't have many apps though. Is having InfoPath and OneNote installed really so bad?

Sometimes you just need Word and Powerpoint

And Outlook. Excel can be very handy the few times you need it for something. Publisher is awesome if you want to make a home made card or some other printed document.

It's a small installation. Really not worth caring that Access, InfoPath and OneNote are installed and not in use.

haha. Nope. With your career choice you'll be eating, sleeping & breathing Excel for the next 10 years minimum. Promise. Someone else foots the bill though so that part is OK.

Lol, yeah I've heard, looking forward to it. :o

Actually need to start brushing up on my Excel skills: pivot tables, h/v lookup, etc...

Hmm, I've got a couple of licenses with my MSDN subscription. I wonder if i can sell it if my company pays for my subscription.
