Microsoft Office for Android now Free! but...

So read about it last night, downloaded it and it still required a valid Microsoft365 subscription.

Updated this morning, now only requires a Microsoft account (which is free).

Can edit documents.

Complete sucks balls. I've seen better editing... well, any other app you can think off. For example: Word, in formatting you can pick from 3 colours, B I U, [-]abc[/-], Font bigger, Font smaller. That's it...

O, and looks plainer than clean sheet of paper.

Bad Microsoft, very bad... I hope nobody has paid before to get this low quality of an app.

BAD MICROSOFT BAD!! Go back to the drawing board and do it all over again!:twisted:, but on the other hand it is MS after all - possibility by weekend they will have 10 patches and 5 upgrades...

Have you tried Quickoffice? That's the Google bought one. Kinda nice, integrates nicely with Drive, and has all the functionality you'll use from your mobile device.

Yes it is, previously you needed a Office365 subscription to edit documents.

Do not confuse the now-free but very limited Office mobile apps released a while back, and the brand-new and rich-function Office for iPad released yesterday but not yet for Android or Windows Metro. The new Office for iPad is rich-function suite of Word, Excel and PowerPoint (Note already released) that is free for download to view Office docs with full fidelity, but requires on Office 365 subscription to edit.

Ja, the previously-available Office Mobile for Android and iOS are token junior applets, not real Office.

The new Office for iPad is very, very different. Rich function. Written specifically for the iPad, from scratch. Fully compatible with the desktop version.

The Android version and a Windows Metro version have not yet been released.

And you can edit docs straight out of evernote on Android. Pity on windows you can't, you have to save the doc and add it again
