Microsoft Outlook is suffering a global outage

Microsoft’s Outlook email service and has suffered a global outage, affecting the web, desktop, and mobile email platforms.

Microsoft confirmed that users worldwide are having problems accessing their Exchange Online accounts.

“We’ve collected additional data from the affected infrastructures to determine the impact to our Exchange online protocols,” Microsoft said.

I am manning our support lines today and, even though we don't do email support, every Tom with socks on that has an email problem calls for help. Not a single call yet...

we also had problems this morning, Outlook taking forever to open, and message sending or inbox syncing just failing a few times then working. Seems to be resolved now.

Had complaints here. Slow search in Outlook etc. M$ cockup.
Glad I found this thread. I usually remote in to fiddle if I am feeling helpful and I am not lus for development today so helpful it is but I still don't want to waste time fiddling for nothing:)

Forewarned and all that jazz...

The company added that it is reviewing recent changes to its service to further determine the cause of impact.
“We’ve identified a recent change that appears to be the source of the issue. We’re rolling back the change to mitigate the impact,” said Microsoft.
At least Microsoft admits that it pushed yet another dodgy update, this time into its cloud, that was not properly tested.

Microsoft does not appear to do continuous integration and certainly never does dogfooding which would have prevented the bug(s) from finding their way into the wild.

Yup, tried to add a Exchange online account too office 2013 and it kept asking for password, even though it logs in with OWA.

Tried again this morning same issue, logged a call with MS, they called me back did the remote desktop thing, I added the account and worked just fine.

I use Outlook, never had a problem sending/receiving mails yesterday...
YMMV
Yeah, but what version are you running? This sounds more like "cloud based" exchanges... Need to read the article again...

I didn't receive a single call yesterday. I did send the link to the article to my email heavy clients so that may have mitigated to an extent.
