Microsoft sneaks adverts into Android apps

Microsoft has begun showing adverts for its other applications in the Share menu within its Android apps.

Android Police discovered that Android apps built by Microsoft now include suggestions to install other Microsoft apps if they are not already loaded on the user’s smartphone.

This title:
Microsoft uses Android's share and open menus to sneak in innocent-looking ads for its other apps
are quite a bit different in meaning.

And how is different from gmail on ios asking you to get chrome, maps etc ???

I think you have them swapped around... Google at the moment is beginning to look a lot like the old Microsoft, playing lots of nasty tricks

Oh I generally agree, but I'm talking more about public opinion (especially from fanbois and scriptkiddies...)

Google is an advertising company so you expect it from them whereas MS tried to be one and failed miserably and laughably. Next they'll put ads on their Android launcher just like in Window 10. Wait and see. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camel's_nose and all.

Meh don't really see a issue with it, it's only suggestions you don't have to use their stuff.

Still waiting to see what they will eventually put on our lock screens, have seen some game of thrones suggestions and other nonsense, imagine what companies will pay MS to advertise there.

Not a problem. I'm using all the mainstream Microsoft apps already.
